BIOTIC CONDITIONS

Rodents abundance evaluation:

Breeding conditions:

Bird reproduction in the vicinity of the Lovozero settlement (district centre) is adversely affected by high numbers of Hooded Crows and Ravens, which occur in an approximate proportion 65:35. These birds are attracted by presence of the reindeer slaughterhouse in winter, landfills and farm. Reproductive success of landbirds in the vast wet floodplain in the middle reaches of the Ponoi River is affected by flooding in spring, although it probably did not occur in 2005.
